Hello World!

A little about me - I'm in my early 30's, I live in DC, I work as a technical consultant, and I meet with clients all day long. I've had bite problems for most of my adult life. I feel that this has been the cause of many of my headaches and pain.

In my early 20's, I visited many orthodontists and went in for numerous consultations. I was told that I would not be a good fit for Invisalign, and that I should consider braces. Not to mention, that if I got braces, some orthodontists suggestsed that I should have teeth extracted (4 to be specific). That's a whole lot of teeth! I was told "your teeth are too big for your jaw". That's like calling a girl fat, except I have no way to put my teeth on a diet. Another orthodontist told me that if I had my teeth extracted, it would ruin my profile. My lips would collapse and my mouth would be flat from the side and actually make me age quicker. So, she suggested that I just pull one of my bottom front teeth, and go for the Tom Cruise look (the line of the top 2 front teeth wouldn't line up with the bottom). I wasn't feeling comfortable with that either.

The fear of braces paralyzed me... I was a single girl, and the thought of getting braces seemed that it would dash any hopes of meeting Mr. Right. So, I decided that I would suffer through the pain! Yeah, great idea... Only thing is, now I'm in my 30's and I can't tolerate it anymore.

I decided to go in for another series of consultations again and this time, I didn't care too much about how I looked. Maybe, cuz I'm in a stable relationship?? Anyway, this time, this orthodontist told me that I am a good candidate for Invisalign. In fact, getting braces would have the same impact as the Invisalign. Instead of pulling my teeth, I would just have my bottom teeth shaved a bit to make room and pull my teeth in.

Sounds like a plan! Let's begin!
